Gothenburg (Sweden) will host BEYOND 2020, the World Sustainable Built Environment (WSBE) conference, which is the largest, most renowned and prestigious conference in the field, taking place only every third year.
The mission of the conference is to link the global building sector to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and to define its role towards the achievement of 2030 objectives. The UN SDGs have been discussed quite extensively already, but the necessary contribution from different sectors to meet the 2030 targets have not been clearly defined yet. BEYOND 2020 would aim to establish this missing link to operationalize the UN SDG’s and, at the same time, to serve as a call for action for the final 10 years towards the 2030 deadline.
The WSBE conference BEYOND 2020 is organised by Chalmers University of Technology, with the support of RISE (Research Institutes of Sweden), Johanneberg Science Park (JSP) and Gothenburg City.
BEYOND 2020 will keep a holistic view and reach across academia as well as private and public sectors to develop concrete solutions and achievable implementation plans, which will incorporate research, policy, finance, education, and innovative thinking, to create the resilient and sustainable built environments of tomorrow. About 2000 participants are expected from all around the world.
